Betsy Ross got the Blues reimagines Old Glory in shades of indigo with an unfinished field of stars.  Indigo dye has a longstanding relationship to labor as a prized global commodity, a lesser known part of America's plantation economy, and its use int he creation of denim - the fabric of the working class.

Play is an interactive slot machine that offers players three word aphorisms created by chance.  Once pulled, excerpts from Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire and Old Chunk of Coal play while the reels spin.  Reel options feature words that possess broad and monumental associations with American identity, resulting in curious combinations intended to provoke personal reflection on nationhood.

This piece features three combinations from the previous piece Play, an altered slot machine that offers players three word aphorisms created by chance.  The layout allows for various points of entry in legibility, reconfiguring linguistic and visual iconographies produced by a seemingly random system.

50 is a set of scratch-off lottery tickets that attempts to destabilize the enduring myth of the American Dream as the guaranteed end product of individualism and hard work.  Each ticket yields different results.
